Kim Dacres

Harlem

Artist Statement

My work considers the texture of a person - the style and journeys of black individuals, and the fragments of their identities that hold them together. In my indoor and outdoor installations I explore the presence of black bodies and cultural identifiers in relation to the space and social environment. My works highlight hair and facial features to explore themes of race, gender, presence, resistance and environmental sustainability.
