Artist Statement

The tenuous nature of the “in between” is intriguing because of its universal relatability and implication of time, space, and relationship. Utilizing materials such as clay, paper, and wire, I create sculptures that simultaneously point forwards and backwards, creating a sense of both connection and estrangement. I have discovered a synergistic relationship between words and objects and am compelled to give physical presence to those words that are merely suggestive – words such as maybe, almost, and if. They reside in the liminal space between solidity and fragility, or the “in between.”
