Artist Statement
Through sculpture, performance and installation, my work utilizes a wide range of materials. Subjects vary from overlooked fragments of the suburban home, ordinary nuances of architecture, to un-monumental mishaps of space. A swimming pool filled with dirt and sod negates its function, leaving an object that lies precariously between the tragic and humorous. Garden hoses twisted into bizarre wall pieces contemplate the vernacular of everyday gestures. A paper plate, the waiting vessel, serves as a blank canvas on a gallery floor. By employing denial, absence and longing as visual tools, my work renegotiates our relationships to the everyday.
