Artist Statement
My drawings often focus on everyday objects that are rooted in personal memories and cultural nostalgia. A book, prayer candles, a molcajete, a pillow. My drawings serve as a personal visual archive of chosen relics that capture the passage of time, a specific place, or experience.
I render each object in a realistic style with graphite dust and pencil to allow my memories to be shown clearly. The drawings are final, rather than preliminary sketches or underpaintings; from beginning to end, the process is visible. My time-consuming and labor-intensive detailed approach slows down the viewer, giving these personal objects the greater sensitivity they truly deserve.
