Imamura's work combines a documentary approach with staged imagery, mostly around the topics of ideology, history and the right-wing movement in Europe, aspecially in Hungary. He often includes sculptural elements in his work, which reference cultural or national symbols.

Tomoya Imamura is a Hungarian-Japanese photographer born in Duisburg, Germany (1991). He holds a Master of Arts in Photography Studies and Practice from the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany.
