My practice revolves around my lived and imagined experience. I take inspiration from that which directly affects me on a conscious level, and that of the subconscious. In the past I have solely created my practice based on my dreamt experience. The dreams I have, I will draw them, write them, then draw them on a majestic scale and finally paint them. This was a great experience until I had the need to paint more than my dreams, as my everyday waking life experience was becoming imposing to my head space.
While painting in Argentina, I started painting real life experiences of mostly sexist encounters which I experienced. The violence and hatred was so apparent that I could not look away, nevertheless take off my mind. During the summer of 2023 I painted these moments of hatred, sexism, and violence in my Buenos Aires studio, which I then exhibited at the Vergez Collection. Following this, I became pregnant as I returned to New York, since then, I have shifted my focus to the inner and outer happenings and transformations that I inhabited throughout my pregnancy. I have been making paintings relating to conception, love, lust, and transformation. I have focused on, and related the alchemical process of painting to that of gestating a child and becoming a mother which I exhibited in my New York solo show debut, in Amanita.
In my painting, I work through emotional turmoil experienced in my intimate life. The loss of freedom and the joy of becoming a mother, and the everyday external and internal conflicts that I encounter in this new phase of my life, persona and political. Currently I'm exploring the arena of the "bed", painting happenings on the bed on a subconscious and conscious level, awake and asleep.
