Artist Statement

My work engages legacies of “utilitarian photography” to question the functional value of representational images. I am interested in questions about what kind of visual authorities we listen to (or not). Above all, I am aware that the uncanny manifests in our everyday: moments that allow us to pause learned perceptions to confront the failures of iconicity and the pervasiveness of grief.
