Artist Statement

My pictorial production is influenced by my background and experience in theater and photography. I paint based on photographs, using them as sketches, and I utilize acting as a means of gestural investigation to create the foundation for my paintings.

My goal is to paint what can only be communicated through gestures, that which is not spoken but physically executed, and what is conveyed through this performative act. In doing so, I transfer something from theater to painting, a potency that goes beyond the verbalized, transcending into action.

My paintings are neither narratives nor illustrations. I am not interested in merely telling a story or illustrating emotions, yet I acknowledge that they may be interpreted as such. Painting can accomplish much more than fulfilling the demands of immediacy that characterize our present time.

Artist Biography

JULIANO MAZZUCHINI LIVES AND WORKS IN BUENOS AIRES - ARGENTINA.
He studied theater at ELT - Escola Livre de Teatro de Santo André, where his research focused on epic theater, and he acted and directed for a period of 20 years. Currently, he is pursuing a career in visual arts with a specialization in painting at the National University of the Arts (UNA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Since 2017, he has been conducting research in Visual Arts, particularly in the field of painting. His work has been exhibited in various exhibitions and salons in Brazil, Argentina, and the United States of America, including the Luiz Sacilotto Contemporary Art Salon, the National Fund for the Arts Visual Arts Contest, and "Do write(right) to me" in New York and Miami.
