Artist Statement
I aim to create drawings which acknowledge the luxury inherent in a connection to nature. At the same time I think about the intersection of ecological disaster and the noir and gothic genre, and allow my grissaile pallete to invoke the sinister, the ambivalent and the tertiary. I am interested in stripping my materials down to the basics, pencil on paper, while indulging in a gluttony of marks, and labor. The immense amount of time it takes to achieve the slightly shimmering surface of accumulated graphite on paper, speaks to an embodied sense of erasure, mortality and overlap which is inherent in drawing and life.
