Artist Statement
Working in egg tempera on gesso panels, Heidrun Rathgeb's small scale paintings encapsulate the serenity of everyday life. Using her immediate surroundings as her inspiration, Rathgeb captures the quiet moments of life that often go overlooked. Having previously worked on a much larger scale, she swapped to small panels to fit in with her domestic setting and outdoor adventures.
Since 2001, Rathgeb has lived with her family in a remote farmhouse near Lake Constance and the Alps, and these serene surroundings often find their way into her work. Constantly filling sketchbooks from her adventures around Europe, never failing to capture the beauty in those quiet everyday moments.
