Artist Statement
Darcy Whent works primarily in painting and drawing, Her practice is rooted in autofiction, using personal history as a material rather than a confessional tool. Through fragmented narrative, recurring figures, and symbolic motifs, her work explores memory as something constructed, rehearsed, and unstable. Influenced by Welsh folklore and lived experience, Whent’s work navigates the psychological terrain between childhood and womanhood, examining themes of care, dependency, and emotional inheritance.
