Artist Statement

Windows are at once architectural forms and psychological thresholds—semi-permeable boundaries where public and private, interior and exterior, and presence and absence intersect. They frame our view, reflect our passage, and often reveal traces of the lives that intersect with them.

Only after the pandemic did I become aware of how profoundly windows shape daily life. The sudden emptiness of city streets, with so many vacant buildings and storefronts, revealed their broader significance. This rupture prompted a deeper investigation—not just of windows as structures, but as symbols, mirrors, and barometers of the city’s ever-shifting rhythms.

From glass storefronts to soaring towers, and even to the empty frames where windows once existed, I explore how these surfaces mediate perception and memory. They reflect, conceal, and accumulate time, collapsing interior and exterior into a single plane of experience. In their transparency and opacity, windows reveal as much as they obscure, inviting reflection on our relationship to space, light, and one another.
