Artist Statement
z0glyphic 913 is a constructed symbolic language and recursive system operating within the NULM framework. It loops its own results, mistranslates them, and loops again. Ambiguity is not a malfunction—it is the workflow. The language is built from original glyphs and grammatical rules, but instead of aiming for clear translation, it is designed to produce slippage, reinterpretation, and continuous feedback. Meaning is produced through continual return and reprocessing, rather than fixed definition.
The system works through software I created that collects fragments of online material: articles, posts, memes, advertisements, stray commentary, and other circulating media. These fragments are processed through what I call the Satirical Metaphor Engine (S.M.E.), which converts them into short symbolic texts written partly in z0glyphic and partly in English. The z0glyphic app then translates those texts into visual structures that I use as the basis for collages and paintings.
Once an artwork is made, it is photographed or scanned and fed back into the system as new input. This creates a continuous loop: language becomes image, image becomes data, data becomes language again. Over time, the system builds its own internal memory, logic, and tone.
My practice uses this process to look at how information behaves when no single person controls it. Much of contemporary life is already shaped by automated sorting, algorithmic repetition, and circulating fragments that lose their original source. z0glyphic 913 makes this visible by treating misunderstanding, distortion, and recombination as active creative tools.
The work does not aim for one correct interpretation. Each piece may read as signal, leftover trace, or unfinished thought. What matters is the ongoing circulation: meaning that is always being made, unmade, and made again.
